most all applications record the date that a row was added to a table - like when a customer was added, etc. with all the data kept in s1 about server monitoring, we wanted to know when we added a server to s1. in this case it was because the s1 users could see sensitive parameters being passed to SPs. we needed to know, audit wise, when this data was first exposed
