We figured out how to 'half-fake' a connection, but this only works if one devices has an interface. Let's say you have a switch (SW1) with a device such as a WAP connected to Port2 of SW1. First, select the two devices you want to connect > Connect Objects > Configure on SW1 and select Port2. Now configure the WAP, Just to the left of "Find an Entity" search box, click the little left facing caret and enter SW1. Select SW1 then the same Port2. You wind up just monitoring a single interface, but at least you can monitor the important interface and draw a line.
