Configuring Advanced Alert-- Interface Utilization

I am using NPM 9.0sp2

I am rather new to creating Advanced alerts

I would like to create a specific alert/trigger for both rx and tx bandwidth utilization for my WAN links

I have created a custom interface property called "AssignGroup" for wach WAN interface entry in the table, I have added the keyword "WAN"

Here is what I have currently configured for the Advanced Alert- triggered condition

Trigger Alert when "All" of the following apply

"AssignedGroup" is "equal" to "WAN"

"Xmit Percent Utilization" is "greater than or equal" to "70"

What I would also like to add to this Advanced Alert/Trigger is

"Recv Percent Utilization" is "greater than or equal" to "70"

However I am not sure how to get this to work properly.. I know I can create a separate Trigger for the "Recv" but I would rather do this...

Any Suggestion?

I don't have access to my server right now but I have something very similar setup. I believe this is how I have it configured.

Trigger when all apply
AssignedGroup = WAN
(then I have a condition group)
trigger when any apply
RCV over 70%
XMT over 70%

It looks this would work, but for some reason an Alert is trigger ONLY if "RCV over 70%" and "XMT over 70%" are met. if only one of the conditions is met (i.e RCV over 70%) an alert is NOT triggered.

Any Suggestions as to why this is not working? I would prefer not having to create a separate alert for RCV and XMT if I have to ..

Does your alert trigger look like the following? Note how the last two conditions are indented indicating that they are part of the condition group.

Thanks for the reply-

as you can see by the screenshot, I have not been figure out how to promote the simple conditions "AssignGroup..." or "demote" the second trigger "Trigger Alert when any of the follow apply"

Just wondering if this is a problem with 9.0 sp2.. I noticed you are using sp1

Unless I missed something, don't you want the trigger to be
"Xmit Percent Utilization is greater than or equal to 70" ?

I have overcome this issue simply by creating 2 alerts. One alerts me when recieve utilisation goes above 90% and the other is for transmit utilisation.

Hi Guys,
Is there anyway to sum the transmit and receive utilization. For example create an alert to trigger when the sum of the transmit and receive utilization exceeds 90%

you could add in a suppression alert for your transmit alert, when the receive utilization is < 90%.
the net effect would be alert when transmit is >= 90, but not until receive is also >= 90

-or- the other way around.
I believe you would want the least likely + alert test to be first.
