the "" script is an example of a way to get a Linux machine to provide a more accurate OS name and version. While it could be as simple as "echo mydistro version 11", this script goes for a slightly more sophisticated approach, using built-in commands to get the job done.

In this case, for SUSE boxes, the lsb_release command is the best way to get the job done (versus "uname" in some other distros.)
