I have a supernet of 10.X.X.X/16 - i want the subnets(eg 10.X.X.X/24) under it to be auto populated through scan.

Click on Add >> Subnet Allocation Wizard.
I tried this method,however IP’s are not visible in the IPAM .
That's because, it does not automatically add IPs into Subnets. You can use this tool.
To add IPs to the monitored Subnets, you will need the addIp address tool
- Extract the AddIps.zip to a directory on the IPAM server
- Run the file SolarWinds.IPAM.AddIps.exe/SolarWinds.Tools.IPAM.AddIps.exe
- Provide your Account\Password you use in the web console and click on Refresh
- After it scans, select the subnets you want the IP ranges created for
- Click on Add IPs
- Wait for it to finish creating the ranges
