EOC - group members do not successfully authenticate - what is OrionWeb

I've added a Windows security group to EOC.

However, group members do not authenticate - they get a username/login screen when attempting to access EOC.

I see some troubleshooting articles such as: https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Active-Directory-group-members-unable-to-login?language=en_US

The above article contains a reference to "OrionWeb" - "AD group account logins return an invalid username or password and OrionWeb shows errors such as.."

I would like to dig deeper for troubleshooting. But... not sure what is "OrionWeb" and how do I access that resource?

Forgive me for 'replying' to my own question.

The group name in question has 'dots' in the name: example: MYDOMAIN\West.Engineering.Group .

However, adding the group Solarwinds search feature took out the 'dots'. like: MYDOMAIN\WestEngineeringGroup

Looking in AD Administrative Center the Group Name is different than the Group (SAMAccountName). You guessed it, the Group Name in AD has the dots, and the Group SamAccountName does not have the dots - name appended together.

I assume from this that the Solarwinds group add pulls SamAccountName.

Any chance this might make a difference in authentication? I have other groups in my EOC who's members authenticate successfully.

I'm replying to my own question again. But...

It looks like the group I want to use shows up as a Distribution Group in AD, not a Security Group.

I see some threads on this forum that suggests Solarwinds can't use distribution groups for authentication.

Can someone please confirm that we can't use distro groups for authentication? If so I will either have the customer create a security group for their members, or add each user individually to SW.
