How can a switchport peak at over 300%?

While running Network Performance Monitor I have a 3Com 3300 switch with a maximum percent utilization graph hitting 200% to 300% frequently.

How can this happen? and Why?

Thanks

John

  • Check the bandwidth setting of the interface.
If it is not set correctly on the interface, then NPM will use this figure for calculating the percent utilization.

You can adjust either the monitored device, or manually in the interface properties in NPM.
