Syslog and Trap node status

Hi;

     I am new to this product and was wondering if there is a way to change node status based on a syslog message or a trap.  I am getting syslog messages that indicate a problem but as far as I can tell I can only send out an alert and it does not seem to affect the map.  I am trying to make a dashboard that reflects the status of a system and if I get the syslog message I want the dashboard to show that there is a problem.  I have worked with other programs that gave you options to set nodestatus based on the receipt of specific traps or syslog messages.  I was wondering if it existed and I missed it.  Thanks

  • Walt,

    There is no current way to change the status of a node based on syslog messages.

  • If I have understood it correctly there are two different modes there is the normal scanning where the units are connected and checked in general as per set rulebase, and then there are a more agressive mode when something pokes it´s attention. would it be possible to change into the more agressive mode based on a syslog message ?

    That would make the syslog message almost like a trap, and it would make the node scanned and changed in the dasboard if there was something wrong with it.
