Perhaps having NCM run its Inventory jobs via SNMP is faster than using SSHv1 or SSHv2 . However, there are some devices that do not support SNMP, as well as customers that do not allow SNMP scanning on their networks.
By the way, I am not advocating to move away from SNMP for the NCM inventory jobs altogether. Instead, I would like to see an option to run inventory jobs via SSHv2. That way, for devices (or places) where SNMP is not allowed, SSHv1 or SSHv2 could be a real help ((though I prefer SSHv2).
