Due to Hitachi (HDS) is a strategic storage supplier of us, it is absolutely necessary, to get data for “Cache Write Pending” from these systems into Solarwinds. Especially because Solarwinds connects very easily via SMI-S to the HDS Management Console (which covers the Cache Write Pending Data), it shouldn’t be much effort to Solarwinds, to just show this data in the Solarwinds dashboard, too. The value “Cache Write Pending” is very important in combination with cache hits for the examination of performance problems with cache based storage systems. Also other vendors like IBM DS oder EMC VMAX/VNX are very sensitive to cache pending problems, so that this would be a very important additional view for the customers using SOLARWINDS NPM. We experienced, that nearly every other Storage Performance Management Tool displays Cache Write Pending. So, it seems to be a real disadvantage to Solarwinds.
