Approval with additional option to request more information

As on today WHD 12.3 approval system have only to logical option Approve & Deny and the flow is one directional user request --> Approval system & (Approved or denied)

Can we have a way in which approver can request the client/user for more information & reset the request back to user?

Advantage : Client/user need not have to recreate a ticket if the old one is denied.
