The inability for UDT to correlate devices to ports on layer 2 switches is frustrating. All the data are there but UDT fails to use them. UDT needs to be able to use the MAC address table as well as the ARP cache. Currently, if there is no arp cache entry for a MAC address, UDT can't tell me what port an IP address, or a MAC address is on. That information can be extrapolated by cross referencing the IPAM data with the MAC address table. This simple solution would make UDT so much more useful for networks where the user edge is layer 2.
