Escalating alerts

Currently, alerts can be triggered based on high, medium, low, and info levels, but there is no way to escalate to another contact person or group if the condition remains unresolved for some amount of time. The workaround is to duplicate the alert with a longer execution interval, which leads to bloating the alert list and makes alert management more difficult.


I'd like to see alerts enhanced such that there would be an escalation value, which would be a delay in minutes. Associated with that would be a choice of "Notification Group or Contact". The idea is that if an alert notification goes out to the primary notification group, a notification would go out to the escalation notification group if the condition still exists after that number of minutes.  A possible alternative would be to set a multiple of the execution interval instead of a delay in minutes. (If the execution interval was 15 minutes and the multiplier was 3, the escalation notification group would be notified once for every 3 times the primary notification group was notified.
