.NET Appinsight

Appinsight for .NET applications in a similar format to JMX appinsight....

Data would be items like: Garbage collection metrics/handles, logical threads, physical threads, generation 0, 1, and 2 heap data and collections, time in Garbage collection and things like that.

The items I would like to see are the organization, the dashboard layout with the smaller graphs and a lot of data in one place including the history.

  • If you vote down please put in a comment so I can understand why its not a good idea.

The items I would like to see are the organization, the dashboard layout with the smaller graphs and a lot of data in one place including the history.  We may be replacing Riverbed/Opnet AppInternals with this template and the ability to see the data is one concise page is lacking.  This is where AppInsight does a tremendous job of providing all that data in one place.

It would even be terrific if you can have an "application' appinsight that would be a dashboard for that system, lets say a system called LabVantage has 7 servers associated with it, app servers, web front ends and a DB or two.  I would like an appinsight that is dedicated to all .net related info for that system, not just a single server.

This may be doable today, but the appsight format is terrific and would be very helpful to my many end users.

Ditto for JVM / JMX....   https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/4859

  • I guess that I'm asking is where is the template falling short for you? AppInsight means different things to different people I guess, so what do you hope AppInsight would provide you above and beyond what the existing template does today?

  • Perhaps something based on the ASP.NET SAM template?

Although with the planned IIS AppInsight, perhaps that's just a subset of features that AppInsight turns on if it detects ASP.NET in the IIS instance.

  • What kind of information would you expect to see in an "AppInsight for .NET"?
