SNMP Only to monitor Node Status

Couple of questions about this: I have 4200 nodes that need to be changed to SNMP only. What's the best way to do this? Certainly I can't do a list resources on all of them. Is there a performance impact assigning these pollers via "Manage Pollers"  -->  "SolarWinds Native Pollers" --> "Status & Response Time SNMP"--> Assign as opposed to Add node and discovery? Also, is there a provision to use SNMP only in a discovery? I know there is a preferred polling method but will it still try ICMP? I may have devices that respond ICMP today but not next week and only want them added as SNMP only.

Maybe this isn't the best question but why would you need both?

Not with the present implementation- it is a binary choice between ICMP / SNMP status. We will certainly keep it in mind as we move forward.

We need both ICMP and SNMP just to make sure. Is it possible?

Iecklerwr1, I couldn`t find that on list resources, but I only tryed on a windows server with firewall blocking icmp requests.

On the other hand, there is now a new resource inside the Settings view called "Manage pollers". That's where you can find how you will monitor status and response time (icmp or snmp).

I concur!  I've already emailed our entire userbase letting them know our days of red down nodes in NPM behind firewall are soon to be a thing of the past and copied your image showing where the new setting is!!!  Thanks again Rob. :^}

Can also be assigned in bulk via the new "Manage Pollers" under settings page.

Maybe its not in add node and is somewhere else?
