Ability to create Black List and Get alerts on them

Hello,

I would like to submit an idea for UDT. To be able to create blacklist for wildcard MAC addresses from different manufactures (i.e. Linksys: 0016b6*, 001839*. Netgear: 00184d*, 001e2a*, etc) and be alerted when they are connect to a switch.

In the alert message, it would tell you what switch and port it was detected on.

This would help with networks who don't/can't use 802.1x in their network.

It is also useful to be able to mark which VLan the device is white listed or black listed. You may have a business computer that is completely fine being on the business VLan and on the Company WiFi but if you find that computer on say the HVAC or Security VLan you would want to be notified.

Was looking to do this today after we found a TP-LINK device (b0487a*) on our network.
Another way to solve this would be to have the whitelist use regular expressions rather than simple wildcard matching. I'd really like to see both.

sounds good from a security perspective
might add some processing overhead
to be effective the UDT polling interval would have to be low, say 5-10 min
