SolarWinds Certified Professional exams: Retiring Soon

Hello THWACKsters!

Are you working your way through the available SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) exams?

If you are, please make note that a few of our exams will be retiring on September 30, 2024.

The exams to be retired are:

Access Rights Manager (ARM)

NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)

Security Event Manager (SEM)

What does this mean? This means you will have until the middle of September to register for an exam (with SolarWinds and with PSI) and until the end of September to take/retake the above listed exams. After September 30, these exams will no longer be available.

Probably September 30th, since there is no September 31.

With these exams getting retired, what is the point of doing them? Will the content of these exams be included in other future SCP exams?

Yes these exams will be included in the Observability counter-part in the future.

Right now, these exams are low volume; not many candidates are taking them.

Candidates that are currently trying to become certified will work towards certification before they are retired.

There will not be a recertification option for retiring exams and their Observability counter-part would be the exam to take in the future.

How will that affect the SCP certified status of those who currently hold one of those certifications? I have an NTA certification that I passed last year 2023. Is the certified status still good for the 3 years from passing, or will I be stripped of the SCP certified status once NTA is retired?

Your certification will remain. It will run its course for the 3 years. When it comes time to recertify, if the Observability counter-part exam is available, you will take that exam.

As a reminder, NTA is already included in the Hybrid Cloud Observability Network Monitoring exam.
