TFTP Server software install problem

Hello,

I’m trying to install the TFTP server software onto a Windows 2012 R2 server, but I’m having problems.  The installation is failing with a message of “Service ‘SolarWinds TFTP Sever’ failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.”

When I’m installing the software I’m logged onto the server using the “local” admin account (the built in Windows account).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Bob Bauer

  • I ran into the same issue installing TFTP server on an Orion APE.

Solution was to extend the service pipe timeout in the registry. Once changed The TFTPserver service could be installed without errors.

backup the registry then use regedit to change the global service timeout settings as follows.

Go to Start > Run > and type regedit

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

Add new DWORD Value under Control called ServicesPipeTimeout

Once added, right click and select Modify

Add the decimal value '180000' and click OK.

    Restart the server.

This worked in my case, hope it helps.
