Server 2003 SP2 - failing

Anyone have an idea what might cause this problem?  Here is a copy/paste from the setupapi.log

#E359 An unsigned, incorrectly signed, or Authenticode(tm) signed file "PathToMyFiles\i386\lmmib2.dl_" blocked (server install). Error 87: The parameter is incorrect.
#W187 Install failed, attempting to restore original files.
#-188 Restoring File: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\iisadmpwd\iispwchg.dll" from "C:\WINDOWS\Temp\OLD66.tmp".
#E243 Exemption obtained for protected system file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\iisadmpwd\iispwchg.dll".

Thanks in advance.

  • dosequis4,

Are you running with administrator rights for the target machine? It looks like the install was blocked which would most likely be lack of rights to overwrite the protected file.

  • Yeah, I should be local administrator on these machines.  I can log in to them locally using the same credentials and install/configure snmp manually.

It only happens on some of the machines as well.  I pushed it to about 500 computers and it has worked on 400.  Some of those that failed were pending reboots for windows updates.  It's only Server 2003 machines that are giving me the above issue.  Server 2008 machines it has worked generally without a hitch.  Any hitch was my fault anyway.
