problems with cisco 2600 with the real time netflow analyzer

Dear Friends

im have a cisco 2600, but when im tried to configure the netflow configurator the error apeears "A connection could not be made to the specified device. Ensure you have network access to the device and the credentials are correct."

the Netflow in the ManageEngine netflow analyzer 7 professional works perfect!!! and im put public in the community string..

what is the problem ?

Thanks

Almir

  • public is usually a read-only community string

You need a read-write community string to allow the configurator to make changes

  • im put ptivate and the error appears again

see my configuration on router 2600

    snmp-server community public RO 2
    snmp-server community private RW 1

  • The two strings are protected by two different access-lists

Is the ip address of the device you are running the configurator from in access list 1 as a permitted device

Does Orion collect snmp data from this router ok using public

If you have access to the command line - why not just enter the ip flow-export commands direct from it

  • im do that, see

    ip flow-export source Loopback0
    ip flow-export version 5
    ip flow-export destination 10.135.12.165 9996

  • Almirf - You also need to enable the flow export on the particular interfaces you want exported:

    www.cisco.com/.../prod_white_paper0900aecd80406232.html

I am kind of curious, are you trying to configure netflow, or view the netflow data?  The netflow configurator allows you to configure NetFlow on Cisco devices, the Real Time Netflow Analyzer allows you to view the netflow data.

You do not need the the community string for viewing the NetFlow data (although it will give you more information if you do enter it), just open the application and set the listening port to the export port you set in your config : 9996, and you should see the interfaces that are sending netflow in the list.

    HTH,

    Greg

  • Dear Greg

the cisco router is already configured !im want to view the flow data
in real time !!! the how im can see netflow ?

The cisco router have the lines bellow :

    ip flow-export source Loopback0
    ip flow-export version 5
    ip flow-export destination 10.135.12.165 9996
    snmp-server community public RO 2
    snmp-server community private RW 1
    snmp-server trap-source Loopback0
    snmp-server chassis-id jmx0503k1hv
snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart
    snmp-server enable traps isdn call-information
    snmp-server enable traps isdn layer2
    snmp-server enable traps isdn chan-not-avail
    snmp-server enable traps isdn ietf
    snmp-server enable traps config
    snmp-server enable traps envmon
    snmp-server enable traps bgp
    snmp-server enable traps frame-relay
    snmp-server host 10.0.240.138 public
    snmp-server host 10.0.240.139 public
    snmp-server host 10.132.1.33 public

  • Almirf - You need to add a flow export statement on the interface you want to export flow data from.

    Something like:

    Router(config-if)# ip route-cache flow

    OR

    Router(config-if)# ip flow ingress

If the router is already configured, then you need to check that the flow is getting to the PC on the port you think it should be coming in on (9996).

    HTH,

    Greg
