Azure offers around 15,000 stock keeping units, which are charged on an hourly basis. The price of the same service can vary based on the region. All of these facts can make the Azure billing process cumbersome and difficult to understand. Cost Calculator for Azure is designed to help you predict how much you pay for the services you’re using. This tool is also built to help all budget holders and SysAdmins who are responsible for cloud resources in their companies, regardless of the size of the business.

    2. Unzip the tool
    3. Double-click CostCalculator.exe
    4. Accept the terms of the license agreement

    3. Double-click to run CostCalculator.dmg
    4. Follow instructions and accept the terms of the license agreement

     

    Overview screen

    When you launch Cost Calculator for Azure for the first time, the Overview screen is displayed. Here, you can link your Azure accounts with the tool to start monitoring prices.

     

    The Overview screen can provide quick access to an overview of your used resources and total cost of all instances. Each instance contains information about location, resource group, subscription, and cost. You can sort or filter the results.

    The Overview page contains a search bar where you can search for the instance, filtering out any instance that doesn’t meet your search criteria.

     

    Showing trend

    When you select any resource, you can click on the “Show Trend” button, so you can look at the cost of the resource in historical data. You can select your own timeframe and choose between daily and monthly granularity. The report can be exported as a PDF.

     

    Settings

    Accounts

    In settings, you can manage your linked Azure accounts and their subscription plans. You can choose if you want to count with them or not, and you can add a new account.

     

    Currency

    Changing the displayed currency is an available option. All spending is changed by the valid exchange rate. You can manually edit any exchange rate that’s used by the tool.
