File Existence in Date-time Based Subdirectories

Version 2

This template searches through a remote server for subdirectories created based on current date and time, and checks for existence of XML files in the last subdirectory.

Prerequisites: WMI access to the target server.

Credentials: Windows Administrator on the target server.

Note: Tested on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2.

    MONITORED COMPONENTS:

This component gets a base directory as the argument and then looks inside subdirectories that are created based on current date and time for existence of XML files.

For example, if the current time is "7/15/2016 1:30:00 PM", the component looks for XML files inside "2016\07\15\13" subdirectory.

If XML files are found it returns the number of XML files in the last subdirectory, if not it returns message that no XML files were found.

Arguments: Remote server and base directory within which the date-time based subdirectories get created.

    Changes done on 20160726:

    - Added remote server as the first argument followed by XML base directory.

    - Getting current time on remote server instead of using current time on SAM server.

    - Using WMI service ExecQuery against Win32_Directory to check for existence of date-time based directory on remote server.

    - Using WMI service ExecQuery against CIM_DataFile to find the number of XML files in the date-time based directory on remote server.
