Patch Manager v2.1 HotFix 2  - NOW AVAILABLE!

    ISSUE ADDRESSED:
    Patch Manager console installation failure. This Hotfix provides a resolution where the Configuration Wizard unexpectedly crashes on Local Administrator user role verification.

    REQUIREMENTS & INFORMATION:

    Hotfix 2 requires SolarWinds Patch Manager version 2.1.0.1087

     

    Hotfix 2 modifies the following files on the Patch Manager server:

    * EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll file in the following locations:

                    %ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Console

                    %ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Server

                    %ProgramFiles(x86)%\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\2.0

     

    * InstallEngine.dll file in the following location:

                    %ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Server

     

    Notes:

    * Save a copy of the original EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll and InstallEngine.dll files as backup files, in case you need to rollback later.

    * This Hotfix must be installed on the PAS and SAS machines.

     

    Warning:

    SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll and InstallEngine.dll files as instructed. Any additional modifications to the EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll and InstallEngine.dll files may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.

     

     

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

     

    1. Close Patch Manager console.

     

    2. Go to "%ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Console" and back up "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" file.

     

    3. Replace "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" file in the Console folder with the file from this Hotfix.

     

    4. Stop the EminentWare Data Grid Server (ewdgs) service.

     

    5. Go to "%ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Server" and back up "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" and "InstallEngine.dll" files.

     

    6. Replace "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" and "InstallEngine.dll" files in the Server folder with the files from this Hotfix.

     

    7. Start the ewdgs service.

     

    8. If Orion Web Console is installed, stop the SolarWinds Information Service (SWInfoServiceSvc) service.

     

    9. Go to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\2.0 and back up "EminentWare.BusinessObj.dll" file.

     

    10. Replace "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" file in the 2.0 folder with the file from this Hotfix.

     

    11. Start the SWInfoServiceSvc service.

     

    12. Run Configuration Wizard and check whether the issue has been resolved.

     

     

     

    To Uninstall this Hotfix:

     

    1. Close Patch Manager console.

     

    2. Go to "%ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Console", delete "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" file and then restore the file from the backup location.

     

    4. Stop the EminentWare Data Grid Server (ewdgs) service.

     

    5. Go to "%ProgramFiles%\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Server", delete "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" and "InstallEngine.dll" files, and then restore the files from the backup location.

     

    7. Start the ewdgs service.

     

    8. If Orion Web Console is installed, stop the SolarWinds Information Service (SWInfoServiceSvc) service.

     

    9 .Go to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\2.0, delete "EminentWare.BusinessObjects.dll" file and then restore the file from the backup location.

     

    11. Start the SWInfoServiceSvc service.
