How to create a repository for all of your custom app pages

It happens to virtually all SAM administrators at some point.  Hey can you create me a custom dashboard for this.  It starts out simply enough and you add a few to your menu bars.  However if you are in a larger organization or if you have to create several custom dashboards it can be tricky to manage.  I wanted to share the mechanism I have used to overcome this and create a repository of all my custom work.

Here is a small example of what I have created (you could have hundreds upon hundreds of custom pages linked here)

Attached you will find a pdf explaining in detail how I created this page and how you can replicate it.

Any feedback is appreciated.

  • Nice demo document.  I can't count the number of times we've had that here.  It's started with "hey, can you just put a couple of dials showing CPU and application information" to, "can we also include custom links to this reporting tool, and this application, and these other reports".

  • Thanks.  Yeah I think after about the 5th time someone asked me for the URL to their custom page (because they had forgotten to bookmark it) I decided to start doing this.
