  • Improved scale logging to SQL databases
  • Log forwarding to Loggly
  • Performance & Usability Enhancements
  • Windows Server 2019 Support
  • Ok.  Its been a year.  I am definitely looking for the following right now...!

    • The SNMPv3 support.
    • SNMP trap forwarding with host spoofing.

What is the actual, current timeline for some deliveries?

    Thank you,

    Ed

  • Those features were added to 9.5 which was released in August of 2015.

  • Hi

Any chance to get more integration with NPM by  using swis action?

    like  TRAP_ALARM_ENABLE"  "SYSLOG_ALARM_ENABLE"

    Hi

    jeff.stewart  :-)

some  pepole are disappointed about the way trap/syslog service is working on  Orion  platform ..

    byrona :-(

I'm 100% sure  that kiwisyslog can take over as TRAP/SYSLOG service and do better job..

Can please try to look into it ?

speciel that  SWIS integration action  from kiwi ->NPM

    could be  a acceptabel  "workaround"...

  • sja & byrona - This is a well understood enhancement for both Orion & Kiwi that aLTeReGo and I hope to solve in a future release.  Please keep the feedback coming of improvements you'd like to see in both Orion & Kiwi as it relates to Syslog & Traps.

    Jeff

  • Thanks Jeff

I sure like to see that trap /syslog "saga" ending

Any "time frame" update  (not a date ) to "what are we working on kiwisyslog.."

And yes I know about the link about "why the PM can not commit to any date.."

    :-)

    jeff.stewart ?

    /sja

  • jeff.stewart while I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this I feel the need to point out that the issues with Syslog and Traps in Orion have been a problem as long as I have been using the software which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 years.  At this point I am pretty sure it's one of the oldest components of the software.  When you already have a good product like Kiwi there really isn't any good reason to continue having people suffer with the Syslog and Trap function that currently exist in Orion.

  • Hi

    jeff.stewart

Is there any numbers behind that ?

Kiwi Syslog Server 9.6 Release Notes (RC 2)

    • Performance has been improved for the following types of messages:

    ◦ UDP

    ◦ TCP

    ◦ SNMP traps

  • I will check with the team to see what numbers we have to share.  I assume you're looking for the number of logs able to be processed per minute?

  • Hi

I think they  "use per hour" and it was around 1 mil ..

  • here is what I would like to see for kiwi integration with NPM.

    1. an action in kiwi to change a custom property in orion.

    2. an action to add a trap to the orion trap database ( dose not need to run the orion trap rules.)

3 an action to add a syslog to the orion syslog database(dose not need to run the orion syslog rules.)

4 allow the orion tags to be added to the traps and syslogs in the orion database.

    5. add an resource to orion to jump to the kiwi web page for an node
