ARM Installation location

Regarding the installation location, Can I install this on the same instance as my NPM or is it recommended to install on a separate instance altogether?

We recommend you install this on a separate server. Below are the requirements based on environment size;

Main Server Requirements

Server Requirements (based on usage level):

Up to 1000 users
- 30 GB Hard Drive
- 4 GB Memory
From 1,001 to 4,000 users
- 40 GB Hard Drive
- 8 GB Memory
Greater than 4,000 users
- 40 GB Hard Drive
- 16 GB Memory
CPU: Dual core processor or better
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP1 (32- bit and 64-bit), 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2 and 2016.
Databases: SQL Server 2008 SP1, 2012, 2014, 2016 (32-bit and 64-bit).
.NET Framework: .NET 3.5 SP1 and .NET 4.5.2 (or higher) is required.

As of release ARM v9.0.821 release, installation along with NPM is not recommended/supported. This is due to some dependent services version incompatibilities.

I'm sure this will change in future release at least for small environments.
