How to : adding monitor tags for more than one monitor together....

I need to add tag suppose severity for monitors....

how do i add the monitor tag for all the devices together... without doing it manually for each monitor seperately... cos a group os monitors will have same severity say major or minor... etc...

please help!!!

Sounds like you should try the Custom Property Editor on your server.

It will allow you to create a Severity column which you can quickly populate on the server. When you come to add additional kit later, you can complete the Custom Property field along with all the other setting in the Node Add pages.

You'll see the new field in your node, interface or volume pages and can add this (as a variable) into alert emails.

Ok... I checked over the Net... but Custom Property Editor is another software from Solar Winds... Isnt there any possibilty of doing what i intend do from within IP Monitor?? doesnt mass edit support something like that??

Indeed, the Custom Property Editor is in the SolarWinds Orion application. In order to mass-add/mass-edit tags, simply click the "Devices" tab and click "Edit -> Mass-Edit -> Monitor Tags". This will give you the option to chose a tag and mass edit it, or simply add a tag to all Monitors.

Ok... We can do it by using Mass Edit feature for Tags.... Here it is....

Go to Mass edit... select the monitors u want to add/replce the tag... and then update... save the changes and u are done!!!

Thanks Fodome, it worked. I did the same thing as u said.

I will definitely get back to you....

Btw... i have one more issue... if the same thing i want to do for devices... say something like adding devicetag[location] for devices... and since a group of devices will have same location... can i update/add the devicetag for all the device in one go? i posted this before in this forum as well.. but no response....
