Fortigate IPSec Interface - UnDP IPSEC Creation

Hello SolarWinds Community,

With the release of FortiOS version 7.0, Fortinet updated the SNMP query method for IPSec interfaces. This change means SolarWinds may no longer report accurate statuses for these interfaces using the old polling method.

To address this issue, you can create a Universal Device Poller (UnDP) in SolarWinds using the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.12356.101.12.2.2.1.20. This guide walks you through the steps needed to set up this poller and ensure accurate monitoring of IPSec interface statuses.

Step 1: Open the Universal Device Poller Tool

On Solarwinds server, launch the Universal Device Poller tool from the SolarWinds Orion folder in your Start Menu.

Step 2: Create a New Poller

  1. Click on New Universal Device Poller.
  2. Enter the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.12356.101.12.2.2.1.20 in the OID field.
  3. Click Next.

Step 3: Define Poller Details

  1. Name the poller (e.g., “FortiGate IPSec Interface Status”).
  2. Select Get as the polling type.
  3. Assign the poller to FortiGate devices.
  4. Click Next.

Step 4: Assign the Poller

  1. Select the newly created Poller from All Defined Poller
  2. Assign the UnDP to your FortiGate devices.

Feel free to share any feedback, suggestions, optimization or questions!
