We want to use Kiwi to perform initial filtering of our trap and syslog messages, and then pass only the items we want to Orion NPM for association with nodes and (possibly) alerting. This works fine for syslog since the "forward to another host" function was built for that. But traps are a problem. First - the trap message is "blobbed" into a single message string so that you can't parse out one trap variable (ie: a varbind) from another. Second - traps can't be forwarded transparently …
Since SolarWinds is moving its Orion suite to the web, it would be great if they would do the same with Kiwi Syslog server. Yes, there is a web page, but its functionality is very limited.
Create a simple start-up wizard that asks the basic questions. namely the device that the user has Device name Device Model Opens a webpage for configuring that device (Display IP address)(note about fixing IP address) Opens the syslog settings specific for that device or brand Other device specific settings Suggest How to video Most compatible devices have a help page or a FAQs in the kiwi page. Just link to the pages
I would like to see some form of 2 factor authentication (google authenticator preferred) added as an option for the Kiwi Syslog Web Access. It is important to be able to secure the web access with 2 factor authentication in order to meet certain compliance requirements.
I would like to have secure TLS TCP support in the Log Forwarder for Windows syslog agent. The Kiwi syslog server supports receiving secure TLS TCP connections but the client side Log Forwarder application does not support sending them. Having both components support this feature would be very useful. Especially for use with systems that need to meet certain compliance requirements for which unencrypted UDP packets are not acceptable.
All, It would really help if Kiwi had the enable log rotation checkbox checked by default. Without going into the setup options, customers are unaware that they may be losing syslog data. Thanks! Dave Burton Loop1 SCP
