Application Stack Wars 2015 - Return of the IT Versatilist
So far, 2015 has seen major software releases and announcements from VMware® and Microsoft®. VMware released vSphere™ 6.0 and introduced Project Photon™ and Project Lightwave™ while Microsoft pushed more Office 365™, offered a technical preview of Windows® 10 and Windows Server® 2016, and announced Nano Server™. These extend IT functionality into adjacent technologies such as XaaS (anything as a service), software-defined constructs, hybrid Cloud, and container technologies.
At the core, these tech forces enable the application stack to be effective and efficient in availability and scalability. It doesn’t matter whether the app is Microsoft’s “born-in-the-Cloud” or VMware’s “Cloud-native” app or if it’s on-premises, colo, or off-premises. At the end of the day, all that matters is the app. And these stacks want ALL of your apps to run on them.
In this session, Kong Yang and a few of his fellow IT versatilists will cover the stack wars with:
- Best practice upgrade tips & tricks for the new OSs/hypervisors from VMware and Microsoft.
- Best practice integration considerations with –as-a-Services.
- Closing remarks on the stack wars’ effect on IT professionals—day-to-day and long-term.
May the IT Force be with you!
