The power of monitoring with SAM lies in the ability to create templates - collections of monitoring components which collect data from all manner of sources, from services to logfiles to synthetic tests that impersonate a real user's behavior. Being familiar with all the different options to configure these components is essential to creating effective templates. Back in episode 53, SAM Product Manager Steven Hunt and Head Geek Leon Adato dug into each component type and described how they worked. But with over 50 component types there were many left out. In this episode they continue the exploration, looking at port monitors, database query components, and more.
