We recently wrapped up our New IT Survey, which sought to identify emerging technologies that are impacting the role of IT pros and better understand how the role of IT is evolving, especially as businesses come to rely more heavily on technology every day.

If you haven’t already checked out the findings of the survey, here’s a post on Whiteboard where you can read more:

We’re looking to engage one of you, a valued customer and community member, to participate in a video interview focused on getting a first-hand account of how you believe the role of the IT pro is changing. We want to hear about the challenges, opportunities and realities you’re facing in the era of the “New IT.” This is a great opportunity to gain exposure for your business, as we hope to get a leading IT/technology publication on board to publish the video on their site!

Here are a few questions to get you thinking:

  • What are the most disruptive technologies impacting your business?
  • Do you feel you need to invest more in new technologies to remain competitive? If so, which technologies?
  • Do you feel IT pros are prepared to provide a higher level of business value to their organizations?
  • How highly are IT pros valued in your organization?

So, if you’re in the Austin area, feel your general perspective aligns with the New IT Survey findings and are interested in participating and sharing your story on camera, please leave a comment below and we'll get in touch.

We've been working on a rather large addition to thwack and now, 6 months later, we are happy to announce the SolarWinds SolarWinds Video space is now on thwack!  From product tutorials and how-to's, training and testimonials, to our Noob's Cube series, this new space on thwack is your one-stop shop for all things video.  That said, we're having a celebration of sorts and in true SolarWinds style, we want YOU to finish our next video.

March's Mission

The video team has put together a script and it's now up to you to End Our Blankin' Movie! On the SolarWinds Video space you'll find a form at the bottom of the page.  There, you'll see the movie script with several blanks waiting to be filled in including the movie title, the actors, the actor's wardrobes, and much more.  Be sure to read through the script and use the form to tailor the movie to your liking.  Once all the submissions are collected, the video team will review each submission and pick a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.  We greatly encourage you to get creative with the write-ins... Juss sayin'.

Mission Rules

  1. All participants will submit their rendition of their movie on the form at the bottom of the SolarWinds Video space.
  2. One (1) submission per participant.  Make sure to really think through your script before submitting!
  3. Submissions will be accepted from March 3rd - March 14th.
  4. The video team will review all submissions and pick a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
  5. Once we've identified our 1st place winner, the video team will create their movie.
  6. The winning movie will be premiered on the SolarWinds Video space on March 27th @ Noon CST.
  7. Prizes:
    • 1st place - $1000 Southwest Airlines gift card
    • 2nd place - $500 Southwest Airlines gift card
    • 3rd place - $300 Southwest Airlines gift card
  8. Terms & Conditions - Unfortunately we could not include countries outside of the U.S. and Canada for this particular mission.  International jurisdictions required the winner be chosen by an independent judge (someone not affiliated with SolarWinds). However, we would still love to hear your rendition of the movie so please feel free to participate!

In addition to the contest, we will be running a promotion throughout the month of March to populate the Video space with ratings, likes, comments, etc.  Take a look at the list below to see where you can earn some extra points this month.

Between March 1st and March 31st:

  • Rate 20 videos - 400 points
    • There is a time space between rating videos, we strongly encourage you to rate accordingly and not simply run through clicking the rate option.  Accurate ratings are key to search.
  • Like 20 videos - 400 points
    • Same rule applies for "liking" as mentioned above for rating.
  • Bookmark 5 videos - 200 points
  • Comment on a video - 20 points per comment
  • Share the SolarWinds Video space on your social networks with the hashtag #solarwindsvideo for 300 points per share (this will be added to profiles at the end of the month). You can post a screenshot of your share(s) in the comments below.
