Polycom SNMP v3 Auth fails

I am looking to monitor a Polycom RealPresence Group 700. I have enabled SNMP v3 on the Polycom. I have also tested the auth with MIB Browser from the toolset. It passes the auth on read only. Polycoms do not allow SNMP writes at all. I really do not want to use SNMP v1 if I can avoid it. When setting up for the node to monitor the SNMP fails. I am assuming on the failure to write side of things. Is there any way to setup a node with SNMP v3 auth but in a read only manner.
