I need some logic on monitoring a Oracle listener (name: TNSListenerGW) in a Windows Script Monitor , can anyone help ?
(I am a unix guy)
If you install the oracle client on the windows machine you can use tnsping just as you would from the unix world.
It checks to see if the listener is up.
To check to see if the database behind the listener is up requires a query to the database…. I used to do this for openview during database backups.
