Hi all,
I am evaluating NCM 7 and have come across an issue with backing up the configurations of multi-context cisco devices.
I found the device template as described in the forum from csowerby, however i cannot understand how this can be used to backup multiple contexts on a single FWSM/ASA.
Once i specify the context in the 'download' type, then only that context is downloaded. What i would like to achieve is to download all contexts, including the system/admin context.
Has anyone actually got this working on NCM7 ?
Thanks
Peter
Hi Peter,
first be sure you check this thread. It gives you intructions how to adjust the device template for your contexts.
If you want to be able to download configuration for all contexts with "one click", you can create a (scheduled) job for it.

Jiri
Peter, in addition to the instructions Jiri provided, you will need to create a new config type via your NCM admin guide.
see "Enabling a new config type"
http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/orionNCM/docs/orionNCMAdministratorGuide.pdf
config type1 = context1
For each context, create a new config type.
In your template follow the link above but basically make a new context field for each context/config type you created.
When you are sure your template is working for one context, you can add the others.
In your job, you can select all the context to download at once, just remember to make this a separate job and only run against nodes with context.
Also if you run a purge job, remove the nodes with context from the purge jobs to avoid deleting context configs.
