Supressing "application or component in a warning or critical state" alerts

As you can see from the below image, I have added the "Applications with Problems" section to the front page of our APM configuration.  As you can also see we have a few servers that are showing "warning" and "critical".

After speaking to people regarding these servers, they have stated that this is a regular occurence and that they rectify themselves over a short amount of time (around 30 - 60 seconds). This is due to say SQL Processes running or large back ground processes.

These people also stated it would be a good thing NOT to change the current thresholds.

Therefore I was wondering is it possible that these "warning and critical" alerts showing on the Applications with Problems only show if say that component or application has been in this state for say 2 minutes.

Please note that we only get email alerts when an application or component is in a "DOWN" state.  The warning and critical we only use visual alerts within APM itself.

This may be the case for your environment but normally this is not the case.

Generally I would agree with this statement but you may have unique environmental requirements where adjusting thresholds may be necessary. I recommend baselining your servers for period of weeks to determine what normal operating conditions are, and then adjust thresholds as necessary to best suit your environment.

Therefore I was wondering is it possible that these "warning and critical" alerts showing on the Applications with Problems only show if say that component or application has been in this state for say 2 minutes.

You could instead use the active alerts resource and create an advanced alert for warning and critical thresholds exceeded only after a predefined period of time. These alerts don't need to have an email alert action if you don't want them to so you aren't bombarded with nuisance alarms. It may however make this resource area more useful for your environment.
