Downloading configs from HP ProCurve 5412zl switches

I have two of these devices in my network and have them in NCM.  I can validate SNMP credentials as well as Login Information but when I attempt to download configs I get the error "Connectivity issues discarding config file.  Device IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".  If I click on the dialog box at the end of the error it shows "invalid input: running".

Don't know if the following will help.

Each device in NCM is assigned a template file with controls the commands sent to your device.  These are located in

    \Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration\DeviceTypes

The last HP Switch template file I see on my server is for a "HP Procurve 420"

So I would check to make certain the commands for your switch are the same.  If not copy the file, make the changes and manually assign your new template.

Also, NCM has the ability to trace (debug) what is sent to the switch and what was the response.  These are stored in

    \Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration\Session-Trace\[ip address]

    Good Luck

    Doug,

first try to follow R Cahill's advice. Please note that the location of the device templates may be slightly different, i.e. you may need to search the \Program Files\SolarWinds\ directory. If you select the device template manually, you can easily identify the file. If you use 'Auto', then you identify the file according to the (prefix of) System OID.

The session tracing is very helpful and be enabled for the Win32 application under File -> Settings.

Let us / me know wheter you are able to make progress.
