Hi Guys,
Please help me out here. I see on a web that NPM 10.2 has RC5 now.
At the same time the email I received from NPM support saying that NPM 10.2 has been released already on November 15Th
Thanks,
Hi,
10.2 RC5 is the release version. If you have RC5, you have the release version, and vice versa.
Thanks
Karlio
Thank you for your note.
RC stands for Release Candidate, usually happens after beta version but before final release version.
Not long ago it was NPM 10.2 RC 2 and now there is NPM 10.2 RC5 when scheduled last RC version?
What happens if I installed NPM 10.2 RC2 , will i have to upgrade by installing RC5?
Thanks
If you installed RC2, then we recommend to upgrade to RC5 (the official released version of 10.2). During the RC phase we try to have a quick but thorough turn around when bugs are found. Thus, you may see a short period of time between RC releases depending on the number and severity of bugs. We hope that this fast and careful approach serves our customers best.
Upgrading from RC2 to RC5 should not require anything special from you, just run the MSI as we support RC to RC upgrades.
Thanks
I am supporting big Orion infrastructure here. we have 5 Orion NPM 10.1 servers and EOC consoles as well.
we were looking to upgrade but then realized that only RC version is out there. I understand that RC2 and RC5 are very close to each other but at the same I am not looking
to run multiple updates along the way.
Please just let me know what is the last RC version has been planned for NPM 10.2 only then we can start our process of migration over.
Hi,
Your approach makes sense. Download the current 10.2 from your customer portal and use that. It is the official release. No more RCs will be released.
Thanks
ok, that is great news. This is what I was looking for.
On a slightly different note. We are using a lot Custom fields properties. i was wondering if they will remain unchanged during and after migration from 10.1 to 10.2.
Also is there tables change in a database was done for new version
should we have any concerns to migrate? is there a need for us to setup migration infrastructure or it should go smoothly
Hi,
Custom properties will remain unaffected.
There are table changes ranging from additional tables, new columns in existing tables, and modified columns in existing tables. None of these should affect your installation as it stands.
We have no concerns at SW for customers to upgrade, thus having made the official release. However, we do recommend that you backup your database and take VM snapshots if you have pollers on VMs in case of the unexpected.
Thanks
