When storage is assigned to VM's we assign storage so that it can grow as necessary. However when a report is run the total assigned storage shows as being "used".
For example, if a disk is say 100gig in size and we allocate 75gig for a VM and that particular VM is only using 10gjg, the report would show up as being 75% used, but in fact the VM is using only 10gig which amounts onjly 10% of the disk storage.
Is there a way so that the REAL amount of disk storage is being shown in the report rather than the allocated storage amount.
Gerry,
I would like to discuss what you are looking for, as STM has the capbility to see the real amount of storage used. Would it be ok if I contacted you?

I'd be interested in this one too - I'd like a quick report so I can show our VMWare and Windows guys how badly underutilised the luns I give them really are.
eg a 1TB lun assigned to an ESX cluster, has 800GB of VMDK's on it and within that about 200GB of space actually used by the guest O/S
Cheers
How did you make on this on, as we are in the process of re-evaluating whether to go with the storage manager package
Thanks
