The Release Candidate (RC) for NTA 3.8 is now available. Below is a short list of the main features and fixes in 3.8.
Features
RCs are fully supported early releases available to existing customers. If you have active maintenance and you are interested in the RC, please send me a direct message or post here and I will make sure you get it.
So good to hear NTA is finally updated. I begin to think SolarWinds forgot NTA. We definitely want faster page load times. And one more question what is Flow Navigator? Any screenshots?
And also please update this page. It still says 3.7 RC! And nobody responds comments on the same page.
Orion NTA – What we’re working on…
If there aren't any known issues. I would like to try it.
There are not any screenshots posted yet. More than likely, I will create a blog about what's new in 3.8 soon. For now, here is a quick screenshots of Flow Navigator. It resides on the left hand side of your screen and can fly out at any time to quickly create a custom view.
The page you referenced is the what we are working on post after our 3.7 release. Once 3.8 is formerly released, that page will be updated to indicate what we are working on for the next version.
There are currently no known issues in NTA 3.8 RC2.
I'm definitely interested in the release candidate for NTA 3.8
By the way the Release notes link for NTA 3.8 RC in the Customer Portal is pointing to http://www.solarwinds.com/customerportal/licensemanagement.aspx and not to any release notes.
I've installed 3.8 RC2 and so far so good.
Hi bob--
Thanks for alerting us to the problem. We are working on it and will post back when there is a resolution.
M
I would love to get in on this as well
Sorry Donald, you can't get in on this :-)
Check your customer portal, you should be good.
By the way, if anyone is interested in measuring performance before and after the upgrade, we have a buddy drop that I can send you. Just let me know before you install 3.8 and I'll get you what you need. If you are particularly concerned about performance, this could be beneficial for you.
Also, if you are concerned about the upgrade or your installation in general, we are happy to schedule a GoToMeeting with one of our developers to walk you through the installation and check on your system after the upgrade, just post here or send me a direct message and we'll get you squared away.
Thanks!
Hey Mav,
I'd like to get my hands on this as well. The service stoppages after DB timeouts is a huge deal for us! So glad to see it in this release!
Thanks,
Dan
Dan, I just provisioned it to your account, you should be able to access it from your customer portal. Feel free to email me if you have any problems getting it.
Hello Mav,
Thank you for adding us to the RC Program.
I have installed the RC in our Production System.
The install was very quick and without any problems.
The new features are very cool and work absolutely fine.
The search is definitley a very big improvement - I also notive the performance improvements - it feels that all is loading a bit quicker.. :-)
Tomorrow i will go through the flow navigator and have a look at the BGP Informations..
Regards,
Mario
Great to hear Mario! I'm definitely interested in what you think about both of those new features. I'm glad the web interface is running fast for you too.
Mav, if you have space, sign us up. Interested in the Flow Navigator, Search and Perf Enhancements!
John
John, I updated your account, check your customer portal and you should be good!
Who's next?
Hi, just curious but does this update include more accurate Country data? I am using NTA 3.7 and most IPs fall under "Unknown Country". Hoping 3.8 will fix that.
Hi, yes 3.8 contains more accurate updated list of IP To Country data.
Hey Mav, would you update my account as well please? I'm also interested in the UDT RC. Thx
Downloaded the Beta just now. About to install it. Can't wait to see changes.
Thanks
Rick
I'm very interested in the release candidate for NTA 3.8....
Hi Mav,
Can you share some details about what CBQOS capabilities or enhancements are available in this feature? Example you mention any NTA resource can be placed in any view..does that mean I can put and NTA resource in it's actual corresponding NPM Interface so that there is a unified view between all Interface statistics and the CBQOS data for that Node?
I have provisioned the RC in your customer portals. Keep the requests coming!
Andrew, we have fixed many of the bugs present in CBQoS. The views have also been improved to provide more relevant data on the pages you are on. We still can do better, but you should see a big improvement with what we have done.
Mav
Hi Mav,
Installed NTA 3.8. There are zero new resources related to CBQOS in this release. Walked through the only CBQOS resource that there is and no changes have been made here including the one that I saw as fundamental..the default behaviour of Egress/Ingress. I have stated in this particular THWACK posting. CBQOS Issues/features and core functionality improvement request.
What this means is that none of my requests made it to the cut list. I considered many of these low hanging fruit and perhaps at least documenting some of these would be an acceptable work around. This was a pretty good investment and renewal to see none of these make the cut for this release. How can we partner more close to allign these sorts of things for the future.
At the very least I really must ask you to at least document this ingress/egress feature so I can have it default to egress...it's really such a simple UI matter to have the Radio button default to a different box, right?
The other item of significant concern is the continued lack of connectivity between these resources in CBQOS and the Nodes themselves. Since there is a direct linkage between Nodes table and the joins on the CBQOS tables using the foreign keys it's not so impossible. Again if you want to document this as part of some SQL code to add as a custom resource that is an acceptable work around.
Excellent news. Please add NTA 3.8 RC to our portal as well. Thanks
Done, who else?
Hi,
I would like to try this out as well, what should I do?
Thanks!
When is this expected to ready for prime time, as I am planning a Major ORION Migration effort and need to know if I should include this upgrade as part of that effort?
Thanks
mgibson, great timing for that question, NTA 3.8 was just released today :-)
Check your customer portal. If you still do not see it by tomorrow, send me a private message with your SWID and I will check for you.
Mav,
I am currently using RC3. When I try to install GA it doesn't have an upgrade option. I think we have to choose Change option in order to upgrade right? And how can I be sure if I upgrade it correctly?
Ctopaloglu, RC3 is the exact same version as the GA version, there is no need to "upgrade" because they are the exact same version.
