Hello,
With the Failover engine, how are monthly MS updates, and daily AV Definition updates supposed to be handled if the failover server is offline Network-wise? Are we expected to have to manually do a failover daily to make sure these items are up to date?
Thanks.
Take a look at this article, should shed some light
Hi thanks. This introduces some manual intervention to MS updates, as we currently use WSUS to push out updates. I am still not sure how AV definitions are installed and updated since we also use a central Management server for that which looks at the host name of the server. I really wish we could simply use MS clustering as the solution for this.
One thing you can do is with the real time file replication you can add additional files and folders to be automatically sync'd. So if you know where the AV file goes, you can add that to the replication filter. Something worth looking into and trying out.
Thanks bshopp. Unfortunately this whole process with the new Failover Engine does not sit well with our processes. We are having multiple issues on our network from this. We will be going back to a single instance of NPM, and going back to Solarwinds to express our concern with the new process. Thank you for your help!
