A little over a year ago, Chris did a post entitled “Worried about IPv4 Armageddon? – How we’re addressing IPv6 in Orion”, which you can read Worried about IPv4 Armageddon? – How we’re addressing IPv6 in Orion.  In this time we have acquired some new products, as well as made many steps forward in this area, so we wanted to take a chance to update everyone on the current state of affairs for all things IPv6 with our product set.

Engineer’s Toolset:

  • All tools in WorkSpace Studio introduced in v10 support IPv6
  • All new tools added since v10 are fully IPv6 compatible
  • We are currently working on adding IPv6 support to many of the old classic tools, see here - What we are working on for Toolset vNext

SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor or NPM:

SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager or NCM:

  • IPv6 fully supported in NCM since v6.1

SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor or APM:

SolarWinds IP Address Manager or IPAM:

  • IPAM tracks IPv6 addresses on dual-stack devices - Announcing General Availability of IPAM 2.0!
  • You can add a IPv6 address without a corresponding v4 address. The main use cases captures are around planning (creating your sites and laying out your addresses).

SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer or NTA:

  • IPv6 is not currently supported.  We are currently still gauging demand to determine prioritization for IPv6 support with NTA, if you have a need for this, please let us know.

SolarWinds IPSLA Manager

  • IPv6 is not currently supported and is on the roadmap for a future release.

Solarwinds User Device Tracker or UDT:

  • Supports dual stack devices today, in which we inspect devices via IPv4 and can pull back and display IPv6 addresses
  • Ability to add and inspect devices via IPv6 will be supported in a future release.

SolarWinds Synthetic End User Monitor or SeUM:

  • IPv6 is not currently supported, adding support is currently on the roadmap for a future release.

SolarWinds Storage Manager powered by Profiler:

  • Works in a dual-stack environment polling IPv4 addresses
  • Currently on the roadmap for future support

SolarWinds Log & Event Manager or LEM:

  • Log data sources that contain IPv6 addresses are accepted and addresses mapped to appropriate IP fields
  • Currently on the roadmap for future support

SolarWinds Virtualization Manager:

  • Works in a dual-stack environment polling IPv4 addresses
  • Currently on the roadmap for future support

SolarWinds Network Topology Mapper or NTM:

  • IPv6 fully supported since the inception of NTM
